The General Rule of Thumb:
- Mascara & Liquid Eyeliner: 3-6 Months. These are the biggest culprits for bacteria growth. If it smells funky or gets dry, toss it immediately.
- Liquid Foundations & Concealers: 6-12 Months. Watch for changes in texture, smell, or separation.
- Creams & Lipsticks: 1-2 Years. Cream products can breed bacteria faster. Lipsticks may develop a waxy smell.
- Powders (Eyeshadow, Blush, Face Powder): 2+ Years. These last the longest. Toss them if they become hard, change color, or cause irritation.
